Ed McDaniel is a former American football linebacker who played for the Minnesota Vikings from 1992 to 2000. He was drafted by the Vikings in the fifth round of the 1992 NFL Draft and went on to become a key member of the team's defense.
During his time with the Vikings, McDaniel appeared in 133 games, starting 103 of them. He was known for his toughness, his ability to read offensive schemes, and his excellent tackling skills. He was also a key special teams player for the Vikings.
In 1998, McDaniel was part of a Vikings team that went 15-1 in the regular season and reached the NFC Championship Game. He finished the season with 131 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 2 interceptions, earning him his first of two career Pro Bowl selections.
McDaniel played his final season with the Carolina Panthers in 2001 before retiring from the NFL. After his playing career, he went into coaching at the high school and college levels.
